How to fix problem Mazda 3 / 6 / CX7 / CX9 and more with handsfree bluetooth and Apple phones iOS 8 problems not calling

Edited 14.3.2015

Finally Apple updated the IOS 8.2 and bluetooth is now working in Mazda Vehicles. If you have another brand tested, please leave in comments. Thank you

If you are the owner of a Mazda and an Apple iPhone, good change you will have issues trying to call with your iPhone and it connecting to the bluetooth. There is a way around this by selecting speaker and when person picks up, select on the phone the bluetooth. DANGEROUS!

Hands-free are suppose to be SAFE and Mazda/Apple have not worked together to keep this safe.

There are hundreds of forums discussing this but it seems that the problem is iOS8 as even with an iPhone 5 with iOS7 there is no issues but as soon as that phone or other phones are upgraded to iOS 8 the problem starts.

After months of frustration and reading forums, we have found the solution (or the answer) on the Mazda website.

Mazda’s response is as follows:

These devices have been tested in accordance with Mazda interoperability standards. Overall device compatibility as well as individual feature operation and functionality is contingent upon the device software version, device operating system, device settings, wireless service provider, and third party applications installed on the device. Individual user results may vary. Mazda Australia and Visteon Corporation are not responsible for software irregularities or hardware issues devices may experience that are outside of our testing scope. As new device software versions become available, test compatibility results may change so please check these results regularly. Last update occurred on 17/12/2014.

I have a Pixel 3 and cannot get voicemails or emails on my Mazda 3 like I did my previous Samsung. Help!!! Phone calls work fine

Please note that if you have this issue:
    1. Update your IOS software to the latest – this will normally fix the issue
    2. If you continue to have the issue, try another phone and if that still fails, contact Mazda.

Sterling IT have posted this for information purposes and cannot support your phone or car. Sorry

Just took my 2008 CX-9 to the dealer and they told me to delete my phone from the system, then they disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. After reconnecting, I synced my phone again and it worked fine. For now. My problems started with I got the iPhone 6 last year.

I work at a mazda service centre, and the amount of people that come into our dealership, understandably, frustrated because their apple device is not working correctly with their mazda is crazy!!!!! way too many!!
The vehicles do not change and yet people still blame Mazda for their Bluetooth connectivity issues when they upgrade to the latest and greatest iPhone. The issue is solely with Apple’s devices and software.
Because of the amount of people that I have helped over the years with this, I will never own an Apple device again! I have worked for Mazda for 10 years.
For the past 2 years I have owned an android device (several of them) and they have not once failed me! not once! and I have driven just about all the Mazda models sold from 2007 till now.
    Apple, get your act together!
    Just my 2 cents.

Yes, the update definitely fixed the issue from Apple.
The weird thing is some manufacturers had no issues (eg Lexus)
It just would have been good for Apple to contact all car manufacturers and put their hand up and say we stuffed up!
Instead, they said it was the cars
At the end, I sold my Mazda now but can assure you it worked really well with the Apple iOS upgrade

my 2008 cx9 bluetooth just went out. the car is about 8 years old now. Is there a lifespan of these devices? The unpair/re-pair fix didn’t work for me. Should i take to dealer to replace?

I have a motorola moto E smartphone and cannot sync my contacts to my 2013 Mazda 3 GS Sky. Once it paired with the device it did not ask my if I wanted to import my contacts. I have added some manually but that takes way to long. How can I import the balance of my contacts without doing it manually.
